Macky + Parker - Maine

Macky was one of my classmates in our Interior Design major at UW Madison. I really didn’t think I’d see her again after graduation, or really any class for that matter. She is one of those people with effortless style and her taste is timeless. To say I was shocked, floored, honored, and nervous when she reached out about me taking her engagement photos is as understatement. I really couldn’t believe it. And it wasn’t just your average engagement session, she wanted to fly me out to Maine!! As I counted down the months until May she shared her inspo with me which got me even more excited.

Originally we just had plans to shoot at Acadia National Park but upon arriving to our Bed and Breakfast, The Yellow House in Bar Harbor Maine, I knew we had to take advantage of this place. It was a beautiful, old, timeless property (which fits Macky’s style to a T). They let me experiment, try new things and step out of my comfort zone with the first half of our shoot.

After the Yellow House Inn, we hopped in their car and headed into Acadia. It was prime golden hour and I couldn’t believe I was about to shoot here. It was fun to see Macky’s vision come to life right before my eyes. We hiked bluffs, tried to avoid crashing waves (we did not succeed and did in fact get soaked at the end). I can’t begin to tell you how much this shoot helped me regain my confidence and creativity in photography. It’s easy to get in a rut but knowing these two full trusted me and loved my work for exactly what it was made me 10x more comfortable.
